Was pretty good last year when I was here.. However standard have dropped.. food on display not fresh.. and cooking food was so slow.. waited 30 minutes for my food even though so few people in queue.. Won’t be coming back again. There are many newer and more popular restaurants on second floor- will try them out next time I’m at Changi City Point.

If you did not know (like me 😂), Gong Yuan also had dry selections for their Mala 🤩 The Golden Buns and Dough Fritters were crispy and nice!! As usual, Gong Yuan’s soupy broth is tongue numbing 麻 and spicy-sweet 辣 (we had the Ma La Pork Bone Soup), but we did not choose the spicy level for this instance. (But to what I know, if you order via the Kiosk, you can choose the spiciness level, but there’s no Kiosk at this outlet, you’ll have to order through the staff member!! If you’re a 小辣 person like me, remember to tell the staff member yea!!) 😬 Staff here seems to be predominantly Chinese speaking too btw 🙂

Had the worst experience here the moment we paid for lunch. We asked for a dry non-spicy stir fry as we’ve tried it at VivoCity outlet before, the cashier on duty rudely replied in mandarin that they don’t have it and said they have a dry mala version and it can be less spicy. We were rudely shocked at what was presented upon collection. The meal was destroyed by heaps of mala and peanut sauce which was not mentioned that would be in the meal and our request for less spicy was not adhered to. We tried to remove as much sauce as we could to salvage the meal but my appetite has dissipated at the entire experience. The staff’s poor communication have resulted in a waste of our money, food and left a distasteful image of Gong Yuan Mala Tang.

Glad that they serve non spicy. Their tomato soup is very nice. The place though is very warm...quite uncomfortable to dine there.

Tried Tampines & Changi City Pt, ordered medium spicy soup broth. Normally I will sweat after meal ended. But both outlets I patron, can’t feel the spice shiokness at all. 烫头不够浓和入味 Where’s your standards ? It seems to drop..

I have been patronising gong yuan since they established their first restaurant in 2017 at Heartland Mall. Overt the years the standard had dropped drastically. The brand promotes itself as the MLT that has drinkable soup. However, the mild Mala soup I had today was spicy and numbing beyond edible. I had to scoop the chili oil out before I can continue. The standard has been super inconsistent from shop to shop or within the shop itself. The management better do something or you face phasing out by the giants like Zhang Liang and Yang Guo Fu

Dont get why the reviews so bad but I really enjoyed the food here! Had a late lunch about 2ish and there were plenty of seats. Food options also alot and fresh. Highly recommend to get the individual strand of noodles, tried all and were very chewy!!! Much better than getting maggi mee. Got the Hot & Spicy Pork Broth and omg shiok! Its like Small Spice with pork broth, drank the whole bowl clean. Only down side is got afew flies…… houseflies while we were eating so kinda annoying. But food wise was delicious, paid close to $30 for 950g of food.

Meats and vegetables are fresh. Prawns are big and the selections are a lot. Mala soup is good as not too spicy and it’s just nice. The tomato soup base is good too. Intense and filled with tomato taste. No waiting time during off peak hours.
