The Original Boat Noodle at Changi City Point brings authentic Thai street food culture to Singaporean diners, specializing in the traditional Thai boat noodles that have become a beloved comfort food across Asia. This halal-certified restaurant has established itself as a decent destination for Thai cuisine, with customers like Tracy Zhang praising the delicious grilled chicken and highly recommending it. The restaurant captures the essence of Thai street dining with its small, affordable bowls of noodles that allow customers to sample various flavours in a single sitting, making it an ideal spot for those who want to experience the diversity of Thai noodle culture without committing to large portions.
The menu at The Original Boat Noodle features an extensive array of Thai favourites, with the signature boat noodles available in multiple flavour variations and priced affordably at around .20 per small bowl. Customers can enjoy between 3-5 bowls for a satisfying meal, depending on their appetite. Beyond the noodles, the restaurant offers other Thai specialities including grilled chicken, beef mama noodles, and traditional side dishes like kang kong. WL Lee particularly recommends the wagyu beef tom yum mama noodles, noting the tender wagyu beef slices and flavourful beef balls, though mentioning that the generous serving of mama noodles left little room for the flavourful soup. The restaurant also offers higher-end options like the beef mama noodle at 1, which, while expensive, delivers quality ingredients that justify the premium pricing.
Located within Changi City Point, The Original Boat Noodle provides an accessible dining option for shoppers, local residents, and Thai food enthusiasts seeking authentic flavours in a comfortable setting. The restaurant operates during mall hours, offering both lunch and dinner services that accommodate various schedules. While some customers have reported inconsistent service and food quality, particularly noting slow service during off-peak hours and disappointing pad thai preparations, the overall experience remains positive for many diners who appreciate the authentic Thai flavours and affordable pricing structure. The restaurant continues to serve as a convenient option for those craving Thai cuisine in Singapore's eastern region.
The food is not bad but not nice also. Not authentic Thai food. The Pad Thai was too sour, too much ketchup. The beef boat noodles were too plain and lack savory. The grilled chicken was nice, with charred and crispy skin, but the meat itself was not marinated therefore no taste, it’s also considered overpriced given the relatively smaller portion (6 pieces of meat). The mango sticky rice could have more thoughtfully presented simply by removing the skin of the mango to make it easier to eat. The mango was not sweet also.
Overall, the food is okay, not authentic. The service is standard. Not too crowded during off peak time.
It’s our first time dining here. Maybe will try out other dishes next time?

Tried all the flavors of the boat noodle. All of them tasted blend and similar. Servings were too small even for boat noodles.
Chicken ball were small and not value for money. 6 small chicken balls for $5.99.
Fried spring rolls were nice.
Ordered takeaway for their fried chicken skin as a snack and it was delicious.
Would only go back for the fried chicken skin.
Overall not value for money.

The portion size of the bowl of noodles has noticeably diminished, leaving customers feeling unsatisfied. The once-hearty serving has now been reduced to a meager amount, and to make matters worse, the price has gone up to $1.80++ per bowl. Even if one were to opt for multiple small bowls, it still falls short of constituting a regular-sized portion of noodles. This unfortunate circumstance renders the overall experience quite expensive, as each bowl amounts to a hefty cost of $9++.
Additionally, the quality of the noodles is not the only issue. The broth, which is a significant component of any flavorful bowl of noodles, disappoints with its mediocre taste. It lacks the richness and depth of flavor that one would expect. Moreover, the limited selection of ingredients further dampens the overall dining experience. The lack of variety and choice leaves customers wanting for more, both in terms of quantity and diversity of toppings.
Despite these drawbacks, there are a few redeeming aspects to the meal. The chicken skin, for instance, is a delightful addition that packs a flavorful punch. Its crispy texture and savory taste enhance the overall enjoyment of the dish. However, the same cannot be said for the fried chicken. Unfortunately, it falls short of expectations, failing to impress with its average taste and unremarkable preparation.
In conclusion, the reduced portion size coupled with the increased price tag of $1.80++ per bowl makes the dining experience at this establishment quite expensive. The underwhelming broth and limited ingredients further contribute to the disappointment. While the chicken skin offers a glimmer of satisfaction, the mediocre fried chicken fails to salvage the overall experience.

Been here a number of times with the family and have always ordered similar items off the menu.
First let's talk about the positives. Service is prompt and friendly. OK ambience and it's rustic. Tasty food and we like the tempura leafy vegetables - very consistent.
We feel there was a tweak in the main beef recipe. Not as robust or tasty as before. Tom yum noodles though was better. Quantity seems to have dipped. The bbq chicken was not worth the $12, for a leg, it was way overpriced. The drinks were smaller (expensive for a small cup with loads of ice - see pics). Management may want to review their price point while comparing prices with other offerings in the vicinity. Was a 4 for me in the past... now its a 3

The restaurant was almost empty with just one diner having her meal. We were the first to order, and yet the service was incredibly slow. The boat noodles and fried dishes came out reasonably quickly, but we waited far too long for the Pad Thai—which should be a simple dish to prepare. The tofu in the pad thai was sour.
When it finally arrived, it was extremely disappointing. The Pad Thai was far from authentic, lacking the flavors and quality you’d expect. Given that the restaurant was practically empty, there’s no excuse for the delays or the poor quality of the food. Definitely not a place I’d return to.

Food is average.
I think $2.20 for a boat noodle at this mediocre standard. It's too pricey.
Ordered the omelette with rice. It's a little bland but tastes better with the fish sauce added. Haha.
The creamy Tom yum isn't creamy. I think the mama instant noodle is better. Haha.

I cant stand how lukewarm their boat noodles are! At first i ordered 2 bowls of kway chap to try, its very lukewarm or infact kinda cold. I thought the others might be okay, ordered another 2 normal bowls of beef boat noodles also its also cold and lukewarm! Super bad to serve the noodles in this state...
Service is not very good too, spotted something very unhygienic. The waitress serve the boat noodles with her tumb almost touching the soap, she had grab the bowl way in and her thumb is just maybe 2 or 3mm away from the noodles....very u hygienic to serve this way...
The only dish i feel its still okay is the fried palaya salad..

I order the Tomyam Chicken rice noodle, P’thani beef rice noodle, A’thaya beef spring noodle & hot green tea.
The food was very nice, since it’s in small bowl, thus i can sample many taste and it’s suit my liking.
The atmosphere was great, as i went here today just before the lunch crowd, so many empty seats available. But within 20-30mins, it’s full house.
The service is quite convenient. U just need to order from the QR code on table, order food online, and later payment to cashier.

Not bad. Services are prompt and prices are reasonable.
Two person; we ordered every single bowl of boat noodles (14-16 varieties) they have. Do kindly take note that the boat noodle portions are very small; just with one or two mouthfuls. It costs $1.80 per bowl before 7% GST.
It tastes great, however in my honest opinion it is not authentic as it is halal certified and therefore no pork or lard (no offence to all my Muslim friends out there).
I personally prefer their Kway Chap boat noodles over the spicy and sour ones.
I also tried their Pad Thai which is flavourful and Ayam Legend, but felt it was a little too dry.
Not to mistaken, it was really good. I will certainly give a 5 stars if they served pork.
Overall, a good experience. Would recommend my friends to dine there.

We tried the boat noodles in creamy tom yum, Pathuntham and Thai version "kueh chup". The chicken wings and fish cake are tasty too and I love the spring rolls. Unfortunately, the mango in sticky rice dish is more sour than sweet. Will be back to try other dishes! We noticed the place is halal certified.

A very unique concept- serving Thai boat noodles in $1.50 tasting portions which allow you to order more of what you like. Choice of egg or rice noodles for each type of bot noodle. Also full range of rice and noodle dishes of standard size. Wonderful size dishes like fried chicken skin. Good range of Thai drinks. Certainly worth a try.

After an active in Expo, we were hungry. This restaurant seems good 😊
The grilled chicken is delicious!🤤 we ordered another one after quick finish of the first one, 🤣 highly recommend!
We ordered a beef mama noodle which is 21 dollars 💵 this one is really expensive although it contains pieces of beef. The beef and meat balls are all good, especially the beef.
The other boat noodle is all small bowls, 2.2 dollars each. I think for a regular female, 3-5 bowls are good. Noodles are great recommend!
The kang kong is great! Also recommend.
Overall we like here so much but price is a bit high.

Affordable and decent quality Halal Thai food. Good that the boat noodles come in small servings sizes as that allows one to try various flavours in a single seating.
The wagyu beef tom yum mama noodles was a new item on the menu. The wagyu beef slices and the beef balls were tender and flavourful. The mama noodles were springy and came in a huge serving, leaving little room for the soup which was a pity as it was pretty flavourful.

The Original Boat Noodle in Singapore offers affordable, halal noodles in a cozy, casual setting. The restaurant's charming decor and convenient location make it an ideal spot for a quick meal. The small servings of boat noodles are flavorful and allow you to try different varieties without committing to a large portion. Each dish is well-seasoned, with authentic Thai flavors. It’s a great place for a casual meal with friends or family, especially if you enjoy tasting a variety of noodle dishes. Overall, it provides good taste at a reasonable price, making it a popular choice.

Good service and decent Thai food. Reasonable for sure. The minced chicken and phad Thai were great. Fish cakes were awesome,.we had 2 plates.
Mango sticky rice could have been better on the mango bit, not sweet and the noodles are literally sampler sizes for 1.5. I rather they charge more and give something more substantial.
Overall for the price a great meal out!
