Monster Chili at Changi City Point specializes in bold and spicy cuisine, featuring grilled fish and mala hotpot dishes that cater to adventurous food lovers seeking intense flavour experiences. This establishment has garnered mixed reviews from customers, with some praising their unique mala preparations while others have raised concerns about portion sizing and spice levels. The restaurant aims to deliver authentic Sichuan-style mala dishes that feature the characteristic numbing and spicy flavours that have made this cuisine popular across Singapore. Their signature grilled fish options complement the mala offerings, providing variety for customers who prefer different styles of spicy cuisine.
The menu at Monster Chili focuses primarily on their two specialities: grilled fish dishes and customizable mala hotpot options. The mala noodles have received positive feedback from customers like Norkh, who appreciated that they did not leave the typical lingering aftertaste associated with mala dishes. However, other customers have expressed concerns about portion sizing, with ViknesHwari SonamuThu noting that plates were overloaded with dried chillies rather than substantial food, raising questions about value for money. The restaurant offers different spice levels to accommodate various tolerance levels, though some customers have reported that even the mild option proved extremely spicy, suggesting inconsistency in spice preparation.
Located within Changi City Point, Monster Chili provides convenient dining options for shoppers and local residents seeking spicy cuisine options. The restaurant operates during standard mall hours, offering lunch and dinner services for those looking to satisfy their cravings for bold flavours. While the establishment continues to refine its offerings based on customer feedback, it remains an option for diners who specifically enjoy very spicy food and are seeking alternatives to the more common mala hotpot establishments in the area. Potential customers may want to inquire about portion sizes and spice levels when ordering to ensure their expectations align with what the restaurant delivers.
Food pricing is not transparent. If you want to charge more, please indicate clearly. When I give feedback, the cook said, don’t care lar, I sell for so long only one person complain. There you go. Support this attitude!

I used to come here in person to get takeaway very often but I recently moved so I resorted to ordering from them through Deliveroo. Unfortunately, they tend to mess up my orders. It has happened *AT LEAST* 7 or 8 times now, with the most recent being my last 2 orders- in a row. I usually order 2 servings of rice and 3 times out of 10, they forget to give me my second serving. My second last order, they forgot my beancurd skin (this has happened a handful of times). And my last order, they forgot my 2 servings of enoki mushrooms AND beancurd skin so all I had in my order were noodles and taupok 😅. My orders are usually in the $20 range but I order multiple portions of the same items so it's not even a complicated order. To always have to request a refund from Deliveroo is a hassle. I love the food but the lack of attention given to customers' orders is incredibly disappointing. The photo attached are credits I received from Deliveroo for all the times I have requested for a refund for missing items.

Today, I ordered Mala dry. It was costly because the young cashier weighed all the items, including the Oriental chicken sausage I chose. The taste of the Mala was not like it was before, and it had no flavor. I feel like I wasted my money. 😢

This place was overpriced for what it offered, and the food quality didn’t justify the cost. I should have paid more attention to the Google reviews beforehand, as the restaurant was nearly empty even on a Sunday at noon. The portions I received were small compared to what I was charged, which made me feel like some of the items were possibly removed behind the scenes. Additionally, I was surprised to be charged $6 for the soupy mala—far too expensive for what it was. Overall, this was not a good value for money, and I don’t plan on returning.

Unfortunately did not seen the review ! Changi City Point food court mala is far better than this .
Even the mild was extremely spicy when asked they told this is mild ..
note : this is not the first time we are having mala.
Aside see the oil almost 100 ml might be there .. seriously I don’t know how can some one cook so irresponsibly with so much of oil ..

Don’t come to this mala place. Had the worse service the guy didn’t even hear that I want spicy give wrong one. I took 1 fish cake, 1 veggies, 2 mushroom, 1 noodle and a little beef. It cost like $30??? That day I came here I took more than this and it cost $24! Why is the price not consistent? This is the last time will ever eat from this store.

I was quite disappointed with the Mala dish I received. the plate was overloaded with dried chillies—way more than necessary. After separating them out, there was barely enough actual food underneath.
It felt like I paid mostly for chilli, not a proper meal. Definitely not value for money, and the experience was not satisfying. Hope the portioning and pricing can be reviewed seriously.

1st and last time visiting.
Ridiculously expensive store. Should have check review before trying. Don’t be fool by The long queue. They captured overflow crowds of other popular Mala stores.
I had the smallest quantity in weight but because of their unpublished pricing, mine became the most expensive of all. Despite I ask for non spicy with no sauce at all, I was charged $3 large pot base as compared to my colleagues that has lots of Mala pot base but paid only $2 small.

Located inside Changi City Mall.
Halal certified restaurant.
You can order from the menu or you can take the food from the counter to do up a mala dish.
Do note that there are different pricing for different items. You could see how the staff separate your items out in order to charge accordingly.
Unlike the normal mala restaurant which will just charge everything based on the total weight.
I do find some of items are too expensive: eg $2 for a piece of dried sea weed.
My order came up to $15, mostly vegetables and I had 3 pieces of sea weed, those costed me $6. Too expensive to my liking.
Service was alright, though the staff decided to serve another customer first, when I was there waiting for my food to be weighed.
Very unlikely for me to visit again.

The mala noodles were awesomely nice with no lingering aftertaste like we usually get with mala dishes. Really enjoyable ! The oysters were just “mehh.luckily we only ordered 3 pcs.

Monster Chilli isn't exactly an "atas" restaurant, but it is comfy enough to dine in at. The spacing between the tables are a bit tight if you are plus sized. But you'll still have ample space to sit, so no worries.
Service wise, I would say it's a 9 out of 10. It is prompt but there are always room for improvement. But let's not be hasty about it, because they do not charge you service charges or table tax as some countries call it.
But don't get me wrong. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to dine in at.
The ingredients are fresh to its finest and there are also a wide range of ingredients to choose from. The Mala soup base is not oily at all like some places would. Ordered the mild spicy and it came out nice. The spiciness level is just right and not too overpowering. Unlike some places where the mild spicy causes numbness and sourness in the oral cavity. Their soup base is pure fragrant from the ingredients added into it. The only thing is, if you were to pick any ingredients that are long such as babat and squid, you might wanna bring your own scissors.. 😂😂😂😂
Enough talk. Do drop by and try it yourself if you are in the area of Expo.

I was a bit worried after sitting down and reading some of the Google reviews — there were comments about bad food and even cockroaches crawling on the dishes. I had already ordered, so I waited nervously.
Thankfully, the food arrived in just 15 minutes, which I thought was reasonable, especially since I ordered steamed fish. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised — the food came piping hot, and the fish was very fresh.
I’ve learned that you can’t always trust every review online. I’m not a paid reviewer — just a customer who feels it would be a shame for a perfectly good halal eatery to suffer because of a few dramatic or possibly unfair comments.
I’m attaching a photo to show that I did eat here — and yes, I cleaned up my plate!
As for the claim about cockroaches crawling on the food — come on, if that were true, I’m pretty sure NEA would’ve shut the place down by now.

It's easy to order. Very delicious limbo fish (patin) and they fry a bit 1st before steaming it. I like it. They have fresh oysters too. Fried squid is really fantastic. The pickled poached fish with glass noodle is really tasty too. There's no service as you have to pay 1st and then take your own food after they finish cooking. The staff is just there to clear tables after customers finish their food. There's indoor and outdoor dining. Ample parking place.
