Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe at Changi City Point brings the nostalgic flavours of traditional Singaporean kopitiam culture to modern diners seeking authentic heritage dishes. This restaurant, known as 大南洋, offers a pleasant kopitiam-style dining experience that showcases the rich culinary traditions of Singapore and Malaysia. Customer Michelle Jee praises the food for tasting good and coming in big portions, recommending that small eaters order from the menu rather than relying on side dishes alone. The cafe creates an immersive atmosphere with background music featuring olden days songs that transport diners back to Singapore's nostalgic past, enhancing the overall dining experience with authentic cultural elements.
The menu at Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe features an extensive selection of traditional dishes that reflect the multicultural heritage of Nanyang cuisine. Signature offerings include chicken curry chee cheong fun, moonlight hor fun, mee siam, and mutton curry that showcase the blend of Chinese, Malay, and Indian influences that characterise Singaporean food culture. Glen Dragon notes that while some dishes like the chicken curry may occasionally be overly salted and others like the hor fun may lack seasoning, these appear to be occasional inconsistencies rather than the standard. Steven lim enjoyed the midnight hor fun with two largish prawns and found the mutton curry tasty, though noted that the mee siam was served cold and the toast was dry. The restaurant also serves traditional coffee and tea beverages that complement the heritage food offerings.
Located within Changi City Point, Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe provides a unique dining destination for those seeking authentic Singaporean heritage cuisine in a comfortable setting. The restaurant features nice decor that combines traditional kopitiam elements with modern comforts, creating an atmosphere that appeals to both older generations who remember these flavours and younger diners exploring Singapore's food heritage. The service is quick and efficient, ensuring that customers can enjoy their meals without excessive waiting times. Whether you are craving traditional comfort food or looking to introduce younger family members to Singapore's rich culinary history, Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe offers an authentic taste of nostalgia in Singapore's eastern dining landscape.
a pleasent kopitiam style resturant ... offering lots of heritage dishes ...
we had the chicken curry chee cheong fun & the moonlight hor fun ...
unfurtunately the chicken curry was overly salted for my taste , while the horfun , lacked salt ... perhaps one off , off-day for the cook ...

The decor & service fared so much higher than their food.
Their iced coconut coffee might be the better dish here.
Generally their dishes were kind of sweet, probably cater for the public. Nothing wrong, just not my preference.
Soup for prawn noodles was lacking that vital crustaceans flavour. I must say they have put in tonnes of effort in the decor, gave patrons the kampong feel.

The shredded chicken hor fun is horrible. The soup is so salty that you can't take another sip. The moonlight horfun is too dry and what irks me is all the prawns came with full shell. is it very difficult to deshell them? tissue also not provided.
Nanyang dao is a better choice if you are going for malaysian food.

Walked in on a Sat afternoon (~1430hrs). Loved the old school charm of the layout, with accompanying music of the 70s & 80s.
The restaurant were quite full but we didn't wait long to get a table.
Coconut coffee - taste good, and not sweet. Coffee not overpowering and rich, blend between coconut and coffee is just nice (8/10).
Fried Kway teow - decent taste. Nothing to complain taste wise, would be nicer if it was served warmer (it was warm, but would probably nicer if it's hot out of wok). (6/10)
Prawn mee - taste "artificial" prawn, and a little overly salty. The broth taste sort of like "instant prawn soup" flavor. 2 fresh prawns, half a hard boiled egg, a few shreds of chicken breast and 4 pieces of fish cake. I'd give this dish a miss the next time (5/10)
Steamed Otah bread - the fact that it's steamed bread already scores points, but alas, the overall outcome of this didn't turn out too well. The otah was quite 'soft' ('watery'), and the taste of the otah is rather blend. This is one that you could have easily made at home with minimal effort and probably taste the same or nicer, depending on where you got your otah (4/10)
Overall, it took a while for the dishes to be served - understandable due to crowd. Service crew's attentiveness to customers is laudable.
Would I revisit?
Most probably yes, but more for the drinks & kaya toast.

Food was awful 🤮 2 pax for over $30 is ok if the food is nice but the food is extremely bad. Mutton Rendang Meesiam was served cold and full of bones and tendons, felt like leftovers or the remains. If really out of stock just tell me, so I can change my order.
The drink was awful too, siap siap until cannot. Look and taste like long kang water.
Just see the food served and image on the ordering app. It’s so different.
Still need to pay service charge when it’s self order and self paid via the app.
Will not return for sure.

A relatively new eatery here. Lunch was okay and we enjoyed the midnight hor fun with the two largish prawns.
The mee siam was cold, but the mutton curry was tasty. Both coffee and tea were ordinary, while we did not really enjoy the toast as we felt it was very meh and dry.
Service was quick and the decor was nice.

food taste good and big portion.
for small eater better to order one from menu, not enough just order more. background music are olden days songs.

Excellent value set lunch for hungry diners. Generous portions and well prepared courses. Coffee & toast can rival other brands.

Known for its elevated Nanyang-style fare, this new space features aged metallic walls, rustic wood panels & vintage hardware shop touches, capturing the charm of old-school coffee shops in a refreshed setting. It’s a vibe!
What we tried today:
~ Traditional Kaya Butter Toast – house-made kaya, premium butter, freshly baked bread ~ Steamed Buns – Otak-Otak. We like the soft bun. ~ Penang White Curry Noodle – rich, creamy coconut-based broth with all the classic toppings
~ Penang Assam Laksa - Thick rice noodles that have a good texture , nice full-bodies soup with refreshing onions and cucumber.
~ Fresh Fruit Rojak ( Crispy Crackers + Jumbu) The rojak sauce is on point and not spicy
~ Nanyang Style Dry Curry Prawn - flavoured with Aromatic curry leaves & umami savoury
Drinks:
⭐️ Coconut Coffee - creamy with a good coffee
⭐️ Golden Lime - very refreshing with preserved lime
Highly recommended for the retro vibes. Big menu and all very well done. Service is really good here!

Another Big Bite
We tried old & dishes new to us - Traditional Kaya Butter Toast of course! Biting into the yummy toasty kaya with cold butter slices. Penang Assam laksa is our all time fav, aromatic Nanyang Style Dry Curry Prawn, otah otah steam buns & rich creamy broth Penang White Curry Noodle. Satisfied and happy belly meal. Highly recommend.

Always a great fan of Nanyang cuisine. So glad that they open an outlet in the east, changi city point. Great food, reasonable prices, prompt services and nostalgic atmosphere.

The coffee texture was good but on the sweeter side. Toast was decent too
