Changi Airport Group has run its Football Championship Experience there from 11 June to 20 July, screening every match of the tournament free on a massive ultra-high-definition LED screen. The final, Spain vs Argentina on 20 July at 3.00am, is the last entry on the published schedule. Normal ST3PS hours are 10.00am to 10.00pm daily, but the airport extends operating hours for late-night live football, so the 3.00am kick-off is covered.
From Changi City Point, the walk to Expo MRT (CG1/DT35) is a few minutes, and Terminal 3 is one stop on the East-West Line toward Pasir Ris, or a five-minute taxi. The airport is also running its Football Champions Trail across Terminal 3 during the tournament, with instant prizes and free Bouncing Net tickets worth S$24.90 up for grabs. If you want to stretch the night, 24-hour dining across Terminals 1 to 4 means you can eat before or after the match without leaving the airport.
The east-side cluster: Pasir Ris, Tampines, SAFRA
If the airport feels too quiet for a final, the east zone has three other confirmed free screenings, all within a short DTL or bus hop of Changi City Point.
ActiveSG Pasir Ris Sport Centre is the official east-zone pick. Sport Singapore has confirmed all five of its screening venues, including Pasir Ris at Level 1 Foyer, will show the final on 20 July at 3.00am. Pasir Ris is also running the Football Finals Watch Party Carnival on 19 and 20 July from midnight to 7.00am, with a mini football carnival, interactive games, challenges and complimentary refreshments while stocks last. Our Tampines Hub is the biggest east-side community screening. The hub has been showing selected matches at its Festive Plaza and Community Auditorium throughout the tournament, and the final is listed as Match #104 on its July schedule, 20 July at 3.00am. SAFRA Tampines is the third option. All seven SAFRA clubhouses are screening every match through to the final, open to members and the public on a first-come-first-served basis. SAFRA members get access to an Ultimate Fan Zone with a complimentary drink for the knockout matches.
The Monday 3am problem and how to solve it
The catch with this final is the kick-off time. It is 3.00am on a Monday, the MRT is not running at kick-off, and the NightRider and Nite Owl night buses only run on Friday, Saturday and eve-of-holiday nights. There is no night bus on a Sunday night. Getting to a screening means driving, a taxi or private-hire, or picking a venue you can walk to.
Getting home is easier. Monday''s first trains start around 5.45am from most stations, and a regulation match that ends near 5.00am leaves only a short wait, or none at all if the match goes to extra time and penalties. The third-place play-off, France vs England, runs the night before on Sunday 19 July at 5.00am SGT, also free on Channel 5 and mewatch, and is a useful dress rehearsal for your body clock if you plan to stay up for the final.
